Amy scoops the 2018 Caroline Aherne bursary!

Our very own Amy Gledhill is the winner of the 2018 Caroline Aherne Bursary. She beat thousands of entrants to snatch the prestigious title and will receive £5,000 and mentoring opportunities from the BBC.

It’s a scheme set up in honour of HRH Caroline Aherne, designed to support northern comedians. She even appeared on The One Show where she was given the title by last year’s winner, Sophie Willan.

Chris has begrudgingly agreed this is the sort of thing he thinks the licence fee should be used for and has agreed to start paying it.

It’s very exciting and an incredibly big deal. In the words of Amy’s mum, “I bought champagne. I could’ve got prosecco - but I didn’t”.
